Tim Pigott-Smith
Tim graduated in Drama from the University of Bristol, in 1967. He now holds the position of Special Lecturer in the Department of Drama.
He has played leading roles with both the Royal Shakespeare Company, and the Royal National Theatre; his most recent stage appearance was as Henry Higgins, in the Peter Hall production of Pygmalion.
Tim made his Broadway debut in 1974 as Dr Watson in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production ‘Sherlock Holmes’.
He is well known for his character roles on TV, and his award-winning performance as Ronald Merrick in The Jewel in the Crown brought him international recognition. Tim has filmed all over the world, and has now achieved his ambition to appear in a James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, as the Foreign Secretary. In 2010, he will appear as Lord Ascot in Tim Burton’s film Alice in Wonderland (released 2 April in UK).
Tim is a regular broadcaster, with many audiobooks to his credit.
